The body of a drowned Egyptian fisherman was found off the shores of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to a local NGO.

The fisherman had gone missing after his boat sank due to a powerful sandstorm that struck Egypt last week.

“His body was found 500 meters away from Gaza coast,” Zakariyya Bakr, the coordinator of Gaza's Fishermen Committees, told Anadolu Agency.

Last week, Palestinian civil defense teams rescued six other Egyptian fishermen when their boat was damaged by rough sea waves.

The six fishermen were later transferred to Egypt via the Rafah border crossing which links the Palestinian enclave to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
