Climate activist Greta Thunberg expresses solidarity with Palestine

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg expressed her support for the Palestinian people as the latest conflict in Gaza continues for two weeks.
"Week 270. Today we strike in solidarity with Palestine and Gaza. The world needs to speak up and call for an immediate ceasefire, justice and freedom for Palestinians and all civilians affected," Thunberg said on X.
Accompanying the message was a photograph of Thunberg and three other individuals holding pro-Palestine posters, which read: "Free Palestine," This Jew stands with Palestine," and "Stand with Gaza."
Earlier this week, the 20-year-old was charged by British police after being arrested at a demonstration outside a London hotel, where an oil and gas conference was taking place.
She was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 15.
The conflict in Gaza began when Hamas initiated Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, a multi-pronged surprise attack that included a barrage of rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel by land, sea, and air, in which over 1,400 people were killed.
Hamas said the incursion was in retaliation for the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and growing violence by Israeli settlers.
The Israeli military then launched Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, along with stepping up raids and arrests in the occupied West Bank.
In addition to launching a sweeping bombardment campaign ahead of an expected ground invasion, Israel ordered a "full siege" on Gaza that has led to electricity supplies being severed as water, food, fuel and medical supplies run out.
Gaza's Health Ministry reported Friday that more than 4,100 Palestinians have been killed by Israel's ongoing bombing campaign.
