Bahrain says it has intercepted 139 missiles, 238 drones since start of Iranian attacks

ISTANBUL

The Bahrain Defense Force said late Thursday that it has intercepted and destroyed 139 missiles and 238 drones since the start of Iranian attacks targeting the kingdom.

The force said in a statement on the US social media company X’s platform that its air defense systems continue to confront successive waves of Iranian attacks.

Bahraini authorities did not provide further details on casualties or damage resulting from the attacks.

A regional escalation has continued to flare since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing around 1,300 people so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
