KABUL, Afghanistan

At least four Romanian soldiers have been wounded in a Taliban-claimed suicide car bombing in southern Afghanistan on Friday, officials said.

“A small number of Resolute Support service members were wounded today when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device targeted their patrol in Kandahar,” Nato-led Resolute Support Mission (RSM) said in a statement.

It said the wounded members were taken to the Kandahar Airfield hospital.

Fazal Bari, director of media affairs at the provincial government, confirmed the attack on the convoy. Four soldiers were injured in the attack, while the attacker died, he told Anadolu Agency.

Claiming responsibility for the attack, Qari Yosuf Ahmadi, a spokesman for the Taliban, has asserted that "seven foreign soldiers" have been killed in the attack.

The incident took place in the Khushab village of the 5th district in Kandahar city, the birthplace of the Taliban movement who ruled Afghanistan 1996-2001.
