Three police officers were killed in a bomb attack in a tribal region of northwest Pakistan late Sunday, a security official said.
The Frontier Constabulary officers were killed by an improvised explosive device during a search operation in the area of South Waziristan, the Public Relations said in a statement on Monday.
South Waziristan is one of seven tribal districts near the Afghan border. The military launched an offensive against the Taliban and other militants in 2009 but insurgents continue to operate in the area.
On Sunday, Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa, chief of the Army Staff, spent the day at posts in South Waziristan.
