HEBRON, West Bank

Two Palestinians were injured by Israeli army fire in the West Bank city of Hebron on Wednesday, according to medical sources.

Israeli forces used live ammunition and teargas to disperse angry Palestinians, who gathered to protest a visit by scores of Jewish settlers to a local shrine in the city, the residents said.

Two Palestinians were injured by army fire, including one seriously, said the medical sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Dozens of Palestinian protesters also suffered temporary asphyxiation from the Israeli gas and were treated on spot, the sources said.

The Israeli military has yet to issue an official statement on the violence.
