Two people were injured Thursday when a sticky bomb attached to a car exploded at a security checkpoint in Deir ez-Zor province in eastern Syria.
Deir ez-Zor Media Directorate, citing the province’s Internal Security Directorate, said a fire broke out in a car at a security checkpoint in the Jazrat al-Buhamid area in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor following the explosion of a sticky bomb.
The blast injured two people, whose identities and conditions were not immediately known, it said.
Security units launched an investigation and began collecting evidence to identify those involved, pursue them and make arrests, according to the statement.
The incident came one day after seven people were killed and four injured when unidentified attackers opened fire on a bus on the Masyaf Bridge in the Homs countryside in central Syria, with authorities launching an investigation into that incident.
