US stocks end mixed as Dow falls, Nasdaq soars
Nasdaq jumps 1.04%, Dow sheds around 0.1%

US stocks closed mixed Wednesday as the Dow fell but the Nasdaq soared.
The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 30 points, or 0.09%, to finish at 33,531.
The S&P 500, on the other hand, rose 18 points, or 0.45%, to end the session at 4,137.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq jumped almost 127 points, or 1.04%, to close at 12,306.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, plummeted 4.3% to 16.94. The 10-year US Treasury yield, meanwhile, fell 2.3% to 3.439%.
The dollar index was down 0.16% to 101.44, while the euro was flat at $1.0983 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold falling 0.2% to $2,030 per ounce and silver trimming 0.8% to $25.39.
Oil prices decreased around 1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $76.28 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $72.79.
