Ukraine says it downed 37 Russian drones, destroyed minesweeper

ISTANBUL

Ukraine on Sunday said that it downed 37 Russian drones and destroyed a minesweeper belonging to Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.

Mykola Oleshchuk, the commander of Ukraine’s Air Force, said on Telegram that Russia attacked the country using 37 drones launched from the country’s Kursk and Krasnodar regions.

Oleshchuk said that all of the 37 drones were shot down over Ukraine’s Kyiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy and Kherson regions.

In Odesa, debris from the falling drones damaged an administrative building, Governor Oleh Kiper said on Telegram, adding that debris also fell on the yard of a residential quarter.

Elsewhere, Ukraine's Navy declared that a Russian minesweeper ship, named Kovrovets, was destroyed by the country's Defense Forces.

Russian authorities have not yet commented on the claims.
