Turkish stock exchange up at midweek open

ANKARA

Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Wednesday at 5,280.54 points, rising 0.55%, or 28.93 points, from the previous close.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed at 5,251.61 points, falling 0.34%, with a daily trading volume of 60 billion Turkish liras ($2.55 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 23.5543 as of 9.57 a.m. local time (0657GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 25.6966, and a British pound traded for 30.0968 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $76.02 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,945.65.
