US President Donald Trump said Tuesday he received $16 million in a settlement with Paramount Global over his lawsuit against broadcaster CBS and the 60 Minutes TV program over alleged unfair editing of a Kamala Harris interview.

"We have just achieved a BIG AND IMPORTANT WIN in our Historic Lawsuit against 60 Minutes, CBS, and Paramount," Trump wrote on Truth Social, claiming the corporation "defrauded the American People."

Trump said he also anticipates receiving $20 million more from new owners "in Advertising, PSAs (public service announcement), or similar Programming, for a total of over $36 Million."

The settlement coincided with Skydance Media's multi-billion-dollar acquisition of Paramount, which required federal administrative approval from the Trump administration.

Paramount Global agreed to the settlement in early July over Trump's claims that CBS edited two different versions of then-Vice President Harris's responses to questions on the Middle East during the 2024 campaign.

Trump filed a suit in the Northern District of Texas, alleging the editing constituted election interference that unfairly benefited his Democratic opponent.

Bill Owens, the executive producer of 60 Minutes, and CBS News chief Wendy McMahon departed their posts during the legal dispute.

Trump warned other media outlets that they are "ON NOTICE that the days of them being allowed to deceive the American People are OVER."

“This is another in a long line of VICTORIES over the Fake News Media, who we are holding to account for their widespread fraud and deceit," he said.
