Powerball lottery player wins $1B jackpot in US
After buying lucky ticket at Los Angeles mini market, winner to receive net $558M once taxes taken out

The lucky winner of an over $1 billion California lottery ticket bought it at a neighborhood store, the Las Palmitas Mini Market in Los Angeles, the state lottery announced on social media.
The jackpot had hit $1.08 billion, making it the sixth-largest jackpot in the US history.
The odds of winning the jackpot are admittedly slim – about one in 292 million for Powerball.
The biggest-ever Powerball jackpot, valued at $2.04 billion, was awarded just last November.
After taxes, the winner of the $1.08 billion prize is set to net some $558.1 million.
