Massive 7.6 magnitude earthquake rocks Drake Passage

ISTANBUL

A massive 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck Drake Passage on Friday, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake occurred in the body of water between South America's Cape Horn and Antarctica, at roughly 5.29 pm local time (2029GMT) at a depth of 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles).

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said a previous warning of a tsunami threat to Chile was cancelled, with no tsunami threats remaining.

Following the quake, a 5.4 magnitude earthquake also took place at Drake Passage at roughly 6.34 pm local time (2134GMT) at a depth of 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles).
