11 killed as blast targets coal miners in Pakistan
Officials suspect IED blast; region has witnessed multiple similar attacks

ISTANBUL
The death toll from an explosion targeting a van carrying coal miners in southwestern Pakistan rose to 11 on Friday, officials said.The incident occurred in the Shahrag area of Harnai district in Balochistan province, injuring six others, Deputy Commissioner Hazrat Wali Kakar told local broadcaster Geo News.
An improvised explosive device (IED) was likely planted on the road and detonated near the vehicle transporting the miners, the report said.
Later in the day, two of the six injured succumbed to their wounds, bringing the death toll to 11.
Initially, nine workers died on the spot.
