NEW YORK
A Metro North passenger train derailed en route to New York City, killing four people and wounding 63 others.
Officials said the train was operating at Hudson Line of Metro North Railroad and derailed on early Sunday.
Seven of eight carriages of the train were scattered around the scene and search-rescue efforts were initiated in Hudson River nearby the scene as well.
New York Governor Andrew Guoma declared four passengers were killed and 63 others wounded during the incident. However, the governor added the number of the passengers in the train could not exactly be determined, therefore officials could not release a precise number.
Services to states in the north were suspended due to the deadly derailment.
