Oman, Libya report new deaths from coronavirus

ISTANBUL 

Oman reported 10 additional deaths from the coronavirus pandemic on Monday, while Libya registered six fatalities.


In a statement, the Omani Health Ministry said 476 new virus infections were recorded, taking the country’s tally to 90,222 cases, including 790 deaths, and 83,928 recoveries.


In Libya, the National Center for Disease Control said six more people had died and 734 others contracted the virus.


Libya’s count now reached 23,515 confirmed cases, including 368 deaths, and 12,762 recoveries.


Since first being detected in Wuhan, China in December, COVID-19 has claimed more than 924,000 lives in 188 countries and regions.


The US, India and Brazil are currently the worst-hit countries.


Over 29 million cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries exceeding 19.6 million, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
