COVID-19 tally surges in Oman, Morocco

RABAT/MUSCAT 

Oman confirmed new fatalities due to the novel coronavirus on Monday, while Morocco reported only fresh infections.


The Omani Health Ministry said six people had died from the virus, raising the nationwide death toll to 81.


The tally of cases hit 17,486 after 604 fresh infections were recorded, while the total number of recoveries stood at 3,793, according to a ministry statement.


Meanwhile, Morocco's health authorities announced 26 additional COVID-19 cases, bringing the figure to 8,250.


Moroccan authorities have recorded 208 fatalities and 7,370 recoveries.


The pandemic has killed over 403,100 worldwide, with nearly 7.03 million confirmed cases and almost 3.14 million recoveries, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
