Flights from Turkey to Morocco will be suspended for two weeks starting Wednesday, Turkish air carriers announced on Wednesday.

Morocco has decided to halt all incoming passenger flights from Nov. 30 to Dec. 13 due to growing worldwide concern over the new Omicron coronavirus variant.

“Our flights to Marrakech and Casablanca have been reciprocally halted,” flag carrier Turkish Airlines said in a statement.

Low-cost Pegasus Airlines said it plans to conduct its next flight to Morocco on Dec. 13.

Turkey joined a host of nations in imposing travel bans on African countries where the Omicron strain is believed to have spread rapidly, stopping all sort of travel with Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe last Friday.
