64 fatalities, 8,106 recoveries seen in past 24 hours, according to Health Ministry data

Turkey reports over 13,200 new coronavirus infections

ANKARA

Turkey on Monday reported 13,215 new coronavirus cases, including 767 symptomatic patients, according to the Health Ministry.

The total number of cases in the country passed 2.79 million, while the nationwide death toll reached 29,094, with 64 fatalities over the past day.

As many as 8,106 more patients in the country won the battle against the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to over 2.63 million.

More than 34.26 million coronavirus tests have been conducted in Turkey to date, including 139,429 since Sunday.

The latest figures show that the number of COVID-19 patients in critical condition stands at 1,239.

Turkey has so far administered more than 10 million coronavirus vaccine jabs across the country, according to official figures on Monday.

In January, Turkey began a mass COVID-vaccination campaign, and a gradual normalization from coronavirus restrictions began on March 1.

Since it originated in China in December 2019, the pandemic has claimed nearly 2.6 million lives in 192 countries and regions.

Over 117 million cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries now surpassing 66.2 million, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.

The US, India, and Brazil remain the worst-hit countries in terms of cases.
