LONDON 

Hundreds of people marched Saturday in central London to protest Bashar al-Assad regime for Tuesday’s deadly chemical gas attack in northwestern Syria.

Carrying anti-Assad placards, the group gathered at Marble Arch to start their march towards 10 Downing Street, where the U.K. government offices are located.

“How many more chemical massacres?”, read one placard.

Protesters also carried placards reading “Stop the Syrian genocide” and “Down with chemical Assad”.

The group also shouted anti-Assad regime slogans in English and Arabic after reaching Downing Street.

On Tuesday some 100 civilians were reportedly killed and 500 others, mostly children, were injured by chemical weapons attack in the town of Khan Shaykhun, Idlib province -- which is blamed on the Assad regime.

In response, the U.S. early Friday fired 59 Tomahawk missiles from destroyers in the Mediterranean Sea at a Syrian military airbase American officials believe was used to carry out the attack.
