Several migrants including a child die while trying to cross English Channel
Blaming human smugglers for incident, French Interior Minister says they 'have blood of these people on their hands'
ISTANBUL
Several migrants, including a child, died while trying to cross the English Channel, French authorities confirmed Saturday.
French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau described the incident as a "terrible tragedy," adding that the child was "trampled to death in a boat."
Retailleau blamed the tragedy on human smugglers, saying they "have the blood of these people on their hands," the Evening Standard reported on Saturday.
Citing local newspaper La Voix du Nord, it said that at least four migrants lost their lives in two separate incidents, including a young child.
