BUCHAREST, Romania
Voting for the parliamentary elections in Romania has begun on Sunday.
Some 8.8 million people are eligible to vote across the country to elect members of parliament after a temporary cabinet of technocrats has run the country for over a year.
A total of 330 deputies and 136 senators will be elected for the new term.
Public opinion polls show the center-left Social Democratic Party (PSD) as the favorite in Sunday's elections. The forner PSD government had resigned a few days after a fire killed 64 people in October 2015.
