LONDON

Over 200 people have been arrested in London so far this month, the Metropolitan Police announced on Sunday, as Extinction Rebellion protests continued their demonstrations over the Easter weekend.

The police said by 2 p.m. on Sunday there have been 213 arrests linked to Extinction Rebellion protests since April 9.

Some of the charges relate to criminal damage and the obstruction of highways, and arrests have also been made after fuel tankers were targeted by demonstrators.

On Friday, protesters blocked a number of London bridges, bringing traffic in the capital to a halt.

Extinction Rebellion protesters are demonstrating against the government’s response to climate change and want the government to immediately end all new fossil fuel investments.
