Netherlands recalls 600K masks from China

AMSTERDAM 

Dutch authorities recalled 600,000 defective masks imported from China amid the fight against the novel coronavirus, local media reported Saturday.

The Health Ministry recalled the FFP2 masks out of 1.3 million imported from China because they do not meet quality standards, according to public news organization NOS.

The Netherlands has 1,819 confirmed cases of the virus known as COVID-19 and the death toll stands at 639.

After first appearing in Wuhan, China, last December, the novel coronavirus has spread to at least 177 countries and territories, according to data compiled by U.S.-based Johns Hopkins University.

Data shows more than 660,700 cases have been reported worldwide with the death toll above 30,600 and nearly 140,000recoveries.
