BRUSSELS
One of the men arrested in a series of raids on Sunday in Brussels has been charged in connection to the Paris attacks on Nov.13.
The Belgian federal prosecutor’s office has also announced that 15 of the 16 suspects arrested on Sunday and two of five suspects arrested on Monday had been released.
Belgium’s threat level would remain at its highest, Prime Minister Charles Michel said during a press conference on Monday, as the country entered its third day of lockdown, with the capital’s subway system, schools and universities closed as heavily armed police and soldiers patrol the streets.
The metro and schools are expected to be re-opened on Wednesday, Michel said.
A number of the Paris attackers were French nationals living in Belgium. Plotter Abdelhamid Abaaoud – killed last week in a police raid in Paris – was Belgian.
