A magnitude 5.3 earthquake jolted most parts of Portugal, local media reported on Monday.
The earthquake, which was the strongest since 1969, was also felt in the capital Lisbon, and the country’s second biggest city of Porto, according to the public broadcaster RTP.
It noted that no major material damage or casualties were caused by the earthquake.
Citing civil protection authorities, the broadcaster added that no emergency plan was activated though citizens were asked to follow instructions from competent state and local authorities.
