Italy’s former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has tested positive for COVID-19, according to local media Wednesday.

Berlusconi is isolated and is conducting work from his home near Milano after his infection was confirmed, according to reports that cited sources from his Forza Italia party.

Berlusconi's doctor, Alberto Zangrillo, said he was asymptomatic and would remain in quarantine.

He also said the 83-year-old famous politician was tested after visiting Sardinia where the number of COVID-19 cases have increased rapidly.

Italy’s far-right La Lega Party’s leader, Matteo Salvini, wished Berlusconi a speedy recovery.
