An Italian coast guard ship -- which rescued some 67 migrants off a Libyan coast -- is waiting for permission to disembark the migrants, Italian media reports said on Thursday.
According to Italian ANSA news agency, Interior Minister Matteo Salvini will not authorize migrants to get off the coast guard ship Diciotti, which has docked in the city of Trapani, Sicily.
Salvini will not let them off, the agency reported, because certain migrants allegedly made death threats against the crew on board.
“If the crew lies […], they will pay for it. If such an attack occurred, the perpetrators will be put in prison,” said Salvini, who is also deputy prime minister.
The investigation into the incident is underway.
