Hungary seals border with Serbia
Police say border shut after 500 migrants arrive at border

BELGRADE, Serbia
Hungary shut its border Thursday to Serbia after the arrival of hundreds of irregular migrants.
The Hungarian News Agency reported about 500 irregular migrants, including women and children, arrived at the Kelebia-Tompa border gate.
Migrants who want to enter Western Europe expect Hungarian authorities to open the border gate, authorities said.
Police in the Bacs-Kiskun district said the gate was closed because of the large number of irregular migrants at the gate.
Hungary was the first EU country to build a border fence in 2015 to control the flow of refugees before sealing its frontier with Serbia.
Macedonia and Slovenia also built fences to control refugee movements in 2015.
