BELGRADE, Serbia

Hungary on Wednesday took measures across the country to deal with the coronavirus outbreak, closing university campuses and banning large gatherings.

In a news conference, Gergely Gulyas, Hungarian premier's chief of staff, said the entry of travelers from Italy, China, South Korea, and Iran is prohibited.

"These measures are unprecedented in the three decades since the fall of communism," Gulyas said.

The education has been suspended at universities across the country from Thursday and the controls will be increased along the borders with Slovenia and Austria.

He added indoor events involving more than 100 people, as well as outdoor events with over 500 people are also banned.

To date, 13 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Hungary with 69 people in quarantine.
