Hungarian PM vows to fight ‘pro-immigrant’ Macron

BELGRADE, Serbia

Hungarian prime minister said French President Emmanuel Macron is the leader of “pro-immigration forces,” and therefore he had a duty to oppose him.

In a news conference in the Hungarian capital Budapest, Viktor Orban spoke about the European Parliament (EP) elections in May, as well as the refugee crisis.

''We speak with respect for the leaders of other countries, but we must not forget the fact that Emmanuel Macron is the leader of the migrant supporters. If what he wants with regards to migration materializes in Europe, that would be bad for Hungary. So we must fight him," he said.

Orban said his country would welcome anti-immigration parties gaining a majority at the upcoming European Parliament in May.

He said migrants will be the main subject during the European Parliament elections and Europe's in the next 15-20 years.
