Greenpeace activists unfurl 'No to War' banner in Spain's capital
Activists in Madrid protest US-Israeli attacks on Iran
MADRID
International environmental group Greenpeace displayed a large banner reading "No to War" in the center of Spain's capital, Madrid, on Tuesday.
Greenpeace activists held the demonstration to protest the US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
In a statement, the group noted that wars are "never the solution" and called for peace as they condemned the "serious military escalation" in the Middle East.
The group added that since the attacks against Iran began, bombings and missile strikes have caused thousands of civilian deaths, injuries, and displacements, hitting schools, hospitals, homes, and civilian infrastructure.
It added that the "No to War" slogan is more meaningful today than ever.
The banner was removed by Spanish authorities about four hours after it was put up.
