Britain's King Charles III and Queen Camilla will pay a three-day visit to France in September, Buckingham Palace said on Thursday, months after a scheduled trip was cancelled over protests.

The Royal couple's visit, which includes Paris and Bordeaux, will take place on Sept. 20-22.

"The visit will celebrate the shared history, culture and values of the United Kingdom and France," the palace added.

French President Emmanuel Macron's office said the visit was "an honour for France."

"It will bear witness to the depth of the historic ties that unite our two countries and our two peoples, and will help showcase French expertise and know-how," the Elysee Palace said in a statement.

Charles ascended the throne on Sept. 8, 2022, following the death of his long-serving mother Queen Elizabeth II.

On May 6, in the country's first coronation service in nearly 70 years, he was crowned along with Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey in London.
