A Bosnian citizen was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of being involved in the 2016 killing in Tunisia of a Hamas-linked aerospace engineer, according to state authorities.

The Bosnian citizen, sought by an international warrant, was arrested following an operation conducted by Bosnia's State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA).

He was taken into custody after questioning at SIPA headquarters, the agency said in a statement.

The suspect is thought to be involved in the assassination of Mohamed Zouari, a Palestinian drone expert and aircraft engineer.

This March, another Bosnian was arrested over alleged involvement in the murder.

Hamas described Zaouari, 49, as one of its members. On Dec. 15, 2016, Zouari was killed by gunmen -- who later managed to flee the scene -- outside his home in Sfax, Tunisia.

Palestinian resistance movement Hamas accused Israel of assassinating Zouari, who, it later emerged, had been a member of the Ezzeddine al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing.

Last November, Hamas accused Israel's Mossad intelligence agency -- in cooperation with other "unidentified parties" -- of responsibility for the assassination.
