Azerbaijan's Embassy in Iran on Sunday resumed its operations amid a two-week ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.

The embassy said in a statement through US social media company X that it will initially operate with limited diplomatic and administrative staff, including the ambassador.

Considering the security and organizational matters, a phased regulation of operations is planned, it added.

“The resumption of operations by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran shortly after the cessation of military operations and the announcement of a two-week ceasefire is a clear example of the special importance Azerbaijan attaches to its relations with its neighboring and friendly Iran,” the statement noted.

Azerbaijan once again declares its support for the initiatives put forward in the direction of ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region, it also said.

More than 3,300 people have been killed in US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran since Feb. 28. Tehran launched retaliatory strikes on Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets before a two-week ceasefire was announced earlier this week.

Iranian and US delegations concluded face-to-face talks in the Pakistani capital Islamabad early Sunday, without reaching an agreement.
