Petkim wind energy power plant with a capacity of 51 megawatts and cost of €55 million will be operational by 2016, SOCAR Turkey's CEO said on Tuesday.
Petkim is the leading petrochemical company of Turkey, founded in 1965. The main plant complex is located in Izmit about an hour away from Istanbul. In 1985, a second complex was constructed in the western city of Izmir. Azerbaijan's SOCAR invested $2.2 billion in Petkim between 2008-2014 and plans to invest $10 billion in the next 7-8 years.
'We will put our Petkim wind power plant in operation by 2016. The plant has a capacity of 51 megawatts and costs €55 million. We believe that it will contribute to our energy need in the area of Petkim,' Kenan Yavuz, SOCAR Turkey's CEO said during the 22nd Caspian Oil and Gas Conference in Baku.
Yavuz said that as SOCAR Turkey, they invest in projects which are in line with Turkey's renewable energy strategy.
