Türkiye's total oil imports increased by 11% to 3.82 million tons in January 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, according to recent data released by the country's energy watchdog on Thursday.
Crude oil imports, the category with the highest oil import volume, rose by 7.3% in January to 2.42 million tons, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly report.
Türkiye imported the majority of its oil and oil product needs from Russia in January, totaling 2.56 million tons. Iraq and Kazakhstan followed with 275,902 tons and 213,448 tons, respectively.
Oil refinery product exports surged by 17.6% to 1.17 million tons, while output also increased by 11.4% to 2.99 million tons.
Furthermore, domestic oil product sales rose by 9.7% year over year in January to 2.42 million tons.
