Itallian energy giant Eni announced on Tuesday that the company started oil production at Kizomba project, in Angola’s offshore.
According to the statement, Eni aims to produce 190 million barrels of oil with peak production in Kizomba Satellite Block 15, where the oil production begun.
The project is estimated to produce 70 thousand barrels of oil per day and is expected to increase Block 15’s total daily production to 350,000 barrels.
The project benefits from the existing capacity of Block 15’s facilities, increasing current production levels without requiring additional floating production, storage and offloading vessels, according to the statement.
Block 15, which has so far produced over 1.8 billion barrel of oil equilevant, in which Eni participates with a 20 percent interest, Exxon Mobil (operator) with a 40 percent stake, BP with a 26.67 percent stake, and Statoil with a 13.33 percent stake.
Eni has been present in Angola since 1980 and is a key country to Eni’s strategy of organic growth. In 2014, Eni achieved an average daily production in the country of about 90,000 barrels of oil equivalent.
