The European Commission's latest announcement on new car models confirms the environmental benefits of autogas cars, according to the European LPG Association (AEGPL) on Wednesday.
AEGPL reminded that the European Commission announced on September 1st, latest car models have to pass new and more reliable emissions tests in real driving conditions as well as in improved laboratory tests before they are approved for European roads.
Jyrki Katainen, the European Union Vice-President for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness said that the new emissions tests are a milestone in ongoing work of EC for cleaner and more sustainable cars over the coming years.
"We welcome this announcement and we are confident that the implementation of these new procedures will confirm once again the environmental benefits of autogas cars," said AEGPL and added that, "These benefits were put in evidence when the LPG industry proactively and with the support of independent experts, tested the environmental performance of autogas cars on real journeys, real people take every day."
Autogas vehicles has much more reduced emissions compared with equivalent petrol and diesel models respectively, report says.
