ANKARA
Major indices in the US stock market opened with gains on Friday, on recovery from the previous day's losses.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 246 points, or 0.74%, to 33,419 at 9.42 a.m. EDT (1442GMT). The S&P 500 rose 21 points, or 0.49%, to 4,280.
The Nasdaq increased 40 points, or 0.31%, to 13,170.
The indices closed lower on Thursday with risks amid Russia's war in Ukraine and annual US consumer inflation climbing to 7.9% in February, its highest in more than 40 years.
The VIX volatility index, known as the fear index, was down 2.2% to 29.57. The yield on 10-year US Treasury notes fell 0.77% to 1.993%.
The dollar index, on the other hand, gained 0.06% to 98.57.
Precious metals showed some retreat with gold falling 1.3% to $1,970 per ounce and silver losing 0.66% to $25.75.
Crude oil prices were up more than 1%.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading at $110.5 per barrel, up 1.1% at 9.46 a.m. EDT, while the US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was at $107 a barrel -- a 1.05% gain.
