ANKARA
Major indices in the US stock market opened higher on Monday to start the year 2022 on a higher note.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 82 points, or 0.23%, to 36,420 at 9.34 a.m. EDT. The S&P 500 added 22 points, or 0.47%, to 4,788.
The Nasdaq increased 131 points, or 0.84%, 15,775.
The VIX volatility index was also up 1.5% to 17.48, however the fear index was below the critical level of 20.
The dollar index was slightly up adding 0.06% to 96.03, while the yield on 10-year US Treasury notes jumped 6.1% to 1.590%.
Precious metals were down, with gold losing 1.2% to $1,808 per ounce and silver decreasing 2% to $22.78.
Crude prices slightly gained with Brent crude trading at $78.16 per barrel with a 0.5% increase. US benchmark West Texas Intermediate rose 0.3% to $75.40.
