US sees 213,000 applications for unemployment benefits last week

The number of people filing for unemployment benefits for the first time in the US fell to 213,000 in the week ending March 7, slightly below expectations.
The US Department of Labor released weekly data on unemployment benefit claims; the number of people filing for unemployment benefits for the first time in the country fell by 1,000 from the previous week.
Market expectations were for the number of jobless claims to be 214,000 during this period.
The previous week's data on the number of jobless claims was revised from 213,000 to 214,000.
As of last week, the four-week average number of unemployment benefit applications fell by 4,000 to 212,000.
The number of continuing unemployment benefit applications also fell by 21,000 to 1.85 million in the week ending February 28.
