Turkish stocks up at Thursday's open

ANKARA

Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,390.92 points on Thursday, rising 0.36% or 5.01 points from the previous close.

At Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.44% at 1,385.91 points, with a daily trading volume of 12.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.55 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 8.2000 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, from 8.1990 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also rose to 9.9500, versus 9.9210, while one British pound traded for 11.4400 Turkish liras, up from 11.4370 at Wednesday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $67.04 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
