Turkish stocks up at open

ISTANBUL 

Turkey's benchmark stock index open Wednesday at at 102,809.75 points, up 0.25% or 253.6 points.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 1.45% to close the day at 102,556.15 points with a daily trading volume of 6.33 billion Turkish liras ($1.11 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.7110 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, up from 5.6880 on Friday.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.3740, versus 6.3550, and one British pound traded for 7.1270 Turkish liras, compared to 7.0940 at Tuesday's close.

One barrel of Brent oil sold for $64.00 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
