Turkish stocks up at midweek's close
BIST 100 gains over 840 points from previous close
Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day at 93,225.22 points on Wednesday, up 0.91% from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 92,481.70 points. As of daily close, it earned 843.40 points from Tuesday's close of 92,381.82 points.
During the day, the index hovered between 91,803.35 points and 93,275.21 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 654.9 billion Turkish liras ($97.2 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 10.05 billion Turkish liras ($1.48 billion).
On the third transaction day of the week, 61 stocks on the index rose, 31 were down and eight were flat compared to Tuesday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by aviation company Pegasus, defense giant Aselsan and national flag carrier Turkish Airlines.
Air conditioner producer Klimasan was the best performer, with its shares up 9.96%, while iron/steel firm Eregli dropped the most, losing 2.34%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,648 by market close, down from $1,653 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was over $31.70 level per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Wednesday.
