Turkish stocks start Tuesday flat

ANKARA

Turkey's benchmark stock index started Tuesday up 0.03% or 29.37 points to open at 98,724.81 points.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell by 0.94% to close the day at 98,695.44 points with a daily trading volume of 6.55 billion Turkish liras ($1.14 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.7300 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, compared to 5.7240 at Monday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.4280, versus 6.4230, and one British pound traded for 7.1730 Turkish liras, compared to 7.1790.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $63.98 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Tuesday.
