Turkish stocks ends week up 0.39%

ANKARA 

Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Friday at 121,474.75 points, up 0.39% from previous close. 

Starting the day at 121,619 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 473.91 points from Thursday's close at 121,000.85 points. 

During Friday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 120,596.94 points and 121,874.29 points, the highest level of all times, -- 37 stocks on the index rose, 54 fell and the remaining flat compared to the previous close. 

Closing the day with a market value of nearly 830 billion Turkish liras ($141 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 10.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.8 billion). 

By market capitalization, Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding, private lenders Garanti BBVA and Akbank were the top companies of BIST 100. 

Shares of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, iron/steel producer Kardemir and petrochemicals producer Petkim recorded the highest trading volumes. 

Stocks of Yapı Kredi Bank, gained the most -- up 4.59%-- , while shares of airline company Pegasus did the worst, falling 3.84%. 

An ounce of gold sold for $1,558.90 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,556.10 at the previous close. 

The price of Brent oil was $64.95 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT) on Friday. 

Turkey's Central Bank on Thursday lowered one-week repo rate, its policy rate, by 75 basis points to 11.25%, down from 12%.
