Turkish stocks end week up

ANKARA

Turkey's benchmark stock index ended the week at 1,430.19 points, up 0.25% from the previous close.

After starting Friday at 1,434.91, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 3.63 points over Thursday's close of 1,426.56 points.

During Friday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,423.51 points and 1,438.88 points, with 49 stocks on the index rising, 47 down, and four flat from the previous close.

Closing the week with a market value of around 1.03 trillion Turkish liras ($127 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 17.3 billion liras ($2.12 billion).

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, gold miner Koza Altin, and polyester producer Sasa.

Stocks of rim producer Jantsa climbed the most, up 9.99%, while shares of conglomerate Ihlas Holding dropped the most, 2.63%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,732.50 by market close, up from $1,715.10 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $64.70 per barrel as of 6.10 p.m. local time (1510GMT) on Friday.
