Turkish stocks end Monday 1.23% up

BIST 100 index rises 1,160.21 points from last week's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.81

Turkish stocks end Monday 1.23% up

ANKARA 

Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Monday up 1.23% to close at 95,182.49 points.

After starting the week at 96,039.50 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 1,160.21 points from 94,022.28 points at Friday's close.

During Monday's trading, the index hovered between 94,897.54 points and 96,211.77 points -- 61 stocks on the index rose, 26 fell, and 13 were flat compared to the previous close.

Closing the day with a market value of nearly 633 billion Turkish liras ($109 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 3.76 billion Turkish liras ($653 million).

One ounce of gold sold for $1,405.55 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,394.25 at previous close.

The price of Brent oil was $63.92 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Monday -- with a day range of $63.61 to $65.02.

At the beginning of 2019, a barrel of Brent oil sold for around $53.
