Turkish stock exchange rises 1.82% at Tuesday's close

ISTANBUL

The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the first trading day of the week at 9,659.31 points, up 1.82% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, after starting the day at 9,554.93, gained 172.75 points from the close on Thursday last week.

The stock market was closed on Friday and Monday due to the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.

The lowest point for the index during the day was 9,546.59, while the daily high was 9,679.11.

As many as 86 indexes gained in value, while 13 closed the day with losses.

The total transaction volume reached 98.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.5 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.76 trillion liras ($224.25 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 39.2105 as of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 44.8136, and the GBP/TRY traded at 53.0295.

The price of gold was $3,324.50 per ounce, while the barrel price of Brent oil was $66.70.
